John Wainewright’s name has been around in our industry for a long time now ......................John joined ‘Norchem’ back in 1993 and formed a new division of the company concentrating on tank cleaning and de-commissioning fuel and chemical storage installations. Major successes during this period were the de-commissioning of Greenham Common Air Base, and in excess of 150 fuel installations and service depots for British Gas Properties.

From 1998, Spill Response was added to Norchem’s core activity, and many major incidents were attended to.

In the millennium year of 2000, Norchem was sold to Paul Richardson (ex City Waste) who formed a new group of companies ‘Betta PLC’, John joined the group, concentrating again on de-commissioning.

In June of 2003, due to the specialist nature of the de-commissioning division and the long-term development of the PLC, it was agreed that John would start a new, independent company, Environmental Land Solutions and focus on the demands and effects of new legislation on de-commissioning and land remediation.
